All the national-level general secretaries of BJP were summoned at PM Modi's official residence on Sunday ahead of upcoming elections to five states next year. The meeting also saw the presence of party president JP Nadda and National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh. Before the leaders could head to the PM's residence, party president JP Nadda had a brief discussion with them for an hour. It is said that the 5-hour marathon meeting revolved around the party's performance in the recently concluded elections to states and also about election preparation for five states that will face polls next year. As per reports, party leaders who head different wings and general secretaries, last month also attended a similar meeting chaired by the PM. The meeting gains significance as BJP would be facing Assembly election in Hindi heartland Uttar Pradesh. UP is one of the biggest states with over 400 assembly seats. The saffron party's primary focus will be on UP. Winning UP will bolster its position during the Lok Sabha election as the state has 80 MP seats. Last time the party secured over 60 seats from UP and boosted its tally.
