Bizzare: 90 paisa spoon sold for Rs 2 lakhs in online auction in London

In a bizarre incident, an individual bought an old crumpled spoon from a car boot sale and sold it for 12 thousand times more than its original value at the auction. According to reports, the man realised at first glance that this spoon was unique and bought it for 90 paise, thinking it to be a unique piece. Later, he approached the Lawrences Auctioneers and registered it for auction. While he was waiting for the confirmation, Lawrences Auctioneers' expert Alex Butcher examined the 5-inch spoon and found that it was dated back to the 13th century. Putting a value on the extraordinary item, it cost Rs 51,712. Post that, the spoon was put for online auction and its bid kept increasing, and it was finally sold for Rs 197,000.  Informing the media, the expert said the man who found the spoon is not a silver dealer, but he definitely has a good eye. He further said that the man wrote a mail stating that he was watching the auction with his family and couldn't believe the amount it was sold for. With the taxes and extra charges added, the value of the antique spoon has crossed Rs 2 lakh.
