To make pension seekers get their money into their account without much running from pillar to post, the Department of Pension and Pensioners in its latest order has said that once the amount is credited, the receipt can also be sent to beneficiaries via social media platforms. Apart from SMS alerts and electronic mail, now the department has also instructed the officials to send an alert of 'amount credited' receipt every month  on the Whatsapp number given by the pension seekers. "Banks may also use social media apps WhatsApp etc in addition to sms and email," an order from the Department of Pension and Pensioners was stated in a report. The order was issued after the decision at a meeting with officials at Central Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) of pension and respective banks disbursing the amount a few weeks ago. The banks were also impressed with the pitch from the department as it felt that this process will also help in claims and rebates in filing IT, Dearness Relief amount, DR arrears, and other benefits. Banks disbursing amounts to pension seekers must give all necessary details of the monthly pension with the break-up of the amount credited. It is also expected to give tax deductions and other details concerning pensioners.
