'Step out of your comfort zone to discover what you love,' says Mimi Choi who is trending for illusion make up

Solving illusions and puzzles have always been our favourite activity since childhood. Today, people are mixing these illusions with art, paint, dance and now even with make-up. Combining the blend of optical illusions and make-up, Mimi Choi, who is based in Vancouver, Canada, is known for her creative illusions makeup skills. Speaking to the Asianet Newsable correspondent, she recalled what made her take up the profession of a make-up artist trying these illusions. She said, "After attempting my first few illusion looks, I became fascinated by how effective highlighting and shading was. Using my face, as a canvas is challenging but it gives me immense satisfaction when I push through and turn my vision into reality. I love the excitement and happiness I bring to clients and people around the world who appreciate my art." Speaking about it, she said, "I was inspired by a look I did in 2016. It was an updated recreation of that look to see how much I have evolved as an artist." Fortunately, she has always received positive and supportive feedback. She added that sometimes people perceive her looks as scary and accuse them of 'evil'. However, she doesn't let that affect it because anyone can interpret her looks however they want. She just paints what she likes.  Talking about her inspiration, she said, "I love the works of surrealist artists like Dali, Arcimboldo, and MC Escher. Whenever I travel to a new city, I like to explore the museums which fill my mind with endless inspiration."  View this post on Instagram A post shared by MIMI CHOI (@mimles) View this post on Instagram A post shared by MIMI CHOI (@mimles) As her make-up illusions have been trending on social media for quite some time, Choi said as she is a professional makeup artist so she can paint these illusions on anyone who requests it.
