Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday morning launched the state government's ambitious 'Desh Ke Mentor' initiative, with Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood as the brand ambassador. The 'Desh ke Mentor' initiative aims at providing mass education that will see around 3 lakh young professionals guiding and mentoring 10 lakh Delhi government school students for a bright future. Sonu Sood has agreed to become the brand ambassador for this programme, he said. He further added that people experienced in their professions will be encouraged to mentor group of children enrolled in Delhi government schools and that the initiative will be launched in mid-September. Meanwhile, Sonu Sood told reporters "Today, I have been given an opportunity to mentor lakhs of students. There is no greater service than guiding students. I am sure together we can and we will." The actor also lauded Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his welfare initiatives and said that the national capital has an ideal model for education. The 47-year-old actor played a crucial role in rendering aid amid the Covid-19 pandemic inducted lockdown last year and shined in the national spotlight, winning hearts after he began helping migrant workers reach their home states.
