Namaste USA: Prime Minister Modi arrives in the US, interacts with Diaspora outside airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the United States capital Washington, DC on a three-day visit during which he will not just bolster bilateral relations between the world's oldest democracy and the world's largest democracy but also consolidate ties with India's strategic partners, Japan and Australia.

Prime Minister Modi's Air India One touched down at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

The Prime Minister was greeted on arrival by Indian Ambassador to US Taranjit Singh Sandhu and US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources TH Brian McKeon

Despite the heavy rain, a number of Indian Americans had lined up outside the airport to get a glimpse of Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister Modi briefly stopped his cavalcade outside the airport and shook hands with the Diaspora members.

The Prime Minister has a packed schedule that will see him taking part in a wide range of programmes, including first in-person meetings with the American leadership, interactions with top global CEOs and dialogue with QUAD allies Japan and Australia.

Here's Prime Minister Modi's itinerary, as shared by the External Affairs Ministry:
 
7:15 pm IST, September 23: Prime Minister Modi will hold individual meetings with global CEOs.

11 pm IST, September 23: Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison

00:45 am IST, September 24: Prime Minister Modi will meet US Vice President Kamala Harris

03:00 am IST, September 24: Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Yoshihide Suga.

While travelling to the United States, the Prime Minister's Twitter account shared a photo of him going through official files.

The Prime Minister is leading a high-level delegation comprising Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and senior officials.
